Earthmoving

Earthworks are engineering works created through the moving or processing of parts of the earth's surface involving quantities of soil or unformed rock.

We undertake earthmoving works for both private and commercial clients in the Otago area.

We offer design and build services and provide demolition, site works, roading, cartage, rock excavation, retaining walls and gravel / topsoil supplies solutions.

Drainage

Drainage is the removal of surface and sub-surface water from an area.

We specialise in civil and domestic drainage work for new homes, developments and subdivisions, whilst also being contracted to look after council infrastructure and assets.

We have up-to-date local knowledge and are able to provide a prompt and efficient solution to all water, drainage and sewer issues.

Wastewater

Wastewater systems are common in rural areas without access to centralised sewer systems. These typically comprise a septic tank, drain field, and optionally an on-site treatment unit.

We are specialised in the planning and designing of wastewater treatment systems. In addition we can develop concept and detailed designs for wastewater treatment infrastructure including pipelines, pumping stations and storage tanks.

Railton Contracting is the accredited and only distributor of Oasis Clearwater Environmental Systems in Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes District.

ABOUT

Railton Contracting is established in 1962 by Graeme Railton. Having worked on the opening of the Haast road on the NZ West Coast he also helped to form some of the earlier subdivisions in the Queenstown area. Over the decades the earthmoving company became a well appreciated business. Three of his sons learnt to operate machinery at an early age and worked with Graeme in the business.

Since 2015 Railton Contracting is run by eldest son Grant Railton. He merged his drainage and waste water business with the earthmoving work from Graeme and now manages a team of seven professionals. Based in Arrowtown, Railton Contracting is still going strong after more than 50 years of providing contracting solutions for clients in the Wakatipu basin.
